Bowling first on a bowler friendly surface, Whatton go off to a good start as the score reached 94-2, but yet another spectacular batting collapse saw the remaining 8 wickets fall for just 35 runs thanks to that man Cairney. Bowling with 'hostility & accuracy', James recorded the remarkable figures of 12 overs, 7 maidens, 5-15 - a stupendous effort. So Whatton & Aslockton sat down for tea with 129 on the board wondering what had hit them.
Calverton's reply got off to a rip roaring start as Graham Waghorn (37) and Colin Murray (26) decided that the best way to go about winning the game was to 'have a go'. Dave Dean played his 'natural game' whilst the others went mad! Dave eventually fell for a more sedate 18 and that man Cairney was at it again making 24 very useful runs. With Skipper Matt Lowe and Dickon Perry at the crease, the target was achieved with 4 wickets remaining.
