The rain, bad light and bitterly cold wind affected all 3 games played over the weekend, but all 3 matches reached a conclusion.
The 1st XI hosted Wilsons who batted first and posted 224-8 from a reduced 42 overs. Daz, Brinsley & Kyle all taking two wickets each. A competitive total made in near Arctic conditions! In reply a slightly revamped batting order initially made a good fist of it before collapsing to 120-7. However, a late rally from Rich Lee, Brinsley and Mason Bramwell gave us a glimmer of hope. Alas it wasn't to be as we closed 34 runs short in near darkness for the second week running. Roll on summer!
The 2nd XI had a plethora of youngsters making debuts in Senior cricket at Caythorpe. A dream start from one of the 'young uns', Stan Tatham, saw him bag two early wickets. Caythorpe recovered and the run rate rattled along at 6 an over for most of the innings. Calverton continued to take wickets however, with Luke Chadbourne (three), and two of the other 'young uns', Charlie Bateman (two) and Evan Poole (one). Had it not been for the tenth wicket putting together an unbroken partnership of 70, we may have been in with a shout. Unfortunately 239 from 40 overs was too big an ask. Only Skipper Matt Lowe with 40 not out unduly troubled the scorers as we were dismissed for just 111.
