A mixed bag of results this week as the weather had a say on Saturday.
Only seven games were called off across the entire league on Saturday, unfortunately one of those was at Bottesford where the 1st XI were due to play, the game being called off early on Saturday morning.
The fixture at GLA was never in doubt as the Groundstaff ensured everything was good to go at 1.30pm as the 2nd XI entertained Gotham. The visitors batted first and despite the terrible weather during the week, the wicket was good to bat on and Gotham had little difficulty in posting 209-8 from 40 overs. Calverton's reply was a pretty poor effort really with more ducks on view than on a pond! Jake Lowe top scored with 33, Dave Dean and James Toogood both got into the 20's but nobody went on and the target was never really challenged.By the time the 40th over was bowled an important 17 not out from Colin Murray and an equally important single from Ethan Wright at least ensured maximum batting points were gleaned from a pretty sorry effort.
The Sunday XI hosted Clumber Park on Sunday and recorded a comfortable victory. Twenties and thirties from Scott Andrew, Brinsley Kirkham, Jake Lowe and Graham Waghorn saw Calverton post a respectable 172-9 off 40 overs. Billy Bennett then ripped out the top order to leave the visitors reeling on 14-3. A good partnership took the score into the 70's until 2 further quick wickets fell to Jake and Brinsley. Clumber never recovered and Brinsley mopped up the remainder with a little help from Deano & Ethan as a victory by 72 runs was recorded.
