The 1st XI, having battled through the 'Splendour' traffic arrived at Wollaton, won the toss & fielded. The bowlers all put in a sterling shift as Wollaton were restricted to just 144-8 from 48 overs. Unfortunately, that was that. The rain came down and 9 points gleaned from the game.
It was a similar story for the 2nds at GLA where top of the table Gedling & Sherwood were 'saved by the rain'!! Wagg won the toss and Calverton batted, a good start (38-0) followed by the all to familiar collapse and then some lusty hitting by Colin Murray eased us passed 100. Importantly, all the overs were used up (bar 4 balls). After a splendid 'Mrs Poggy' spread was devoured by all, G & S's reply was advancing serenely at 70-0 off 15 when the heavens opened.
