Upon winning the toss, Ryan elected to bat first and despite losing debutant Chris Goodchild & Billy Bennett cheaply, the Skipper and Adam Peel took the score into the eighties for the loss of two wicket and all seemed well. Unfortunately that was about as good as it got as the innings subsided grimly and a much below par score of 141 was posted.
The Unity reply mirrored the Calvo effort as Ryan & Billy A got amongst the top order, but a productive fourth wicket partnership seemed to take the game away from the visitors. However, once Grimsley Kirkham was introduced into the attack and 3 quick wickets were taken, hope was renewed. Alas it wasn't to be as the eighth wicket added the final 30 odd runs with some gusto to see Unity home.
On the worrying side was another injury, this time to Toogy who landed very awkwardly on his elbow. The contorted grimace on his face told it's own story, thankfully an x-ray reveled just serious bruising.
Onwards and upwards and hopefully a few more bodies back next week.
MOM The twelve year old who inputted the result on play cricket - priceless!!
