A bad Saturday was had by all as both the 1st XI and 2nd XI were relegated from their respective SNCL divisions.
The Second's finally had their fate sealed at Regatta Way against Gedling & Sherwood. The story of the game epitomized the season really. Gedling batted first and scored 194-8 when they shouldn't have got passed 150, but the catching (at least 6 were grassed) and the ground fielding was shocking. In reply Calvo got off to a great start as Will Peat and Derek Pickering put on 106 for the opening wicket. What should have been a stroll to victory turned into the all to familiar collapse as the innings closed 17 runs short with 8 wickets down - criminal!
The First's also slipped down a league in another run fest at GLA. Gedling Colliery batted first and hit the ball to all parts. After 50 overs, 275-4 had been put on the scoreboard with 120 coming off the last 10 overs!! To maintain Division A status, only a win would suffice as the other scores filtered through. Despite a valiant effort (Eddie Lee 54, Rich Lee 43, Scott Andrew 40, Kevin Evans 39) it was to no avail as we finished 24 runs shy with 9 wickets down. Seven points were not enough and Division B it is for 2015.
