The 'donkey work' has been completed and all that's left now is a bit of decorating! More room for the bar staff......hooray!!
Work has commenced at The Pav to extend the bar area. Due to the popularity, especially on Fridays, conditions for the staff were becoming a little cosy and cramped. More piccies will be added as work progresses. In the meantime can you name the 2 workers? One is pretty easy, one not so?!
Will be held at GLA on Friday 23rd September at 7.00pm.
Think you may have won something? Turn up and find out! John Nester and the 'Groundsteam' took the opportunity given by the wonderful September weather to start in earnest on preparations for next season! A few hours hard slog in the hot weather will no doubt bear fruits for 2017 and the wicket will be as good as ever. All that's needed now is some rain!!
Now all the money has been tallied up, it can be revealed that almost £4,000 was raised at the recent Huntington's Charity day at GLA. The amount raised has now increased year on year. Pictured below are Derek Pickering (Chairman), Margaret Cairney (HD Organiser) and John Nester (Groundsman). A fantastic day was had by all and lots of money was raised for this worthwhile cause. Well done to all those involved! Next Sunday, the 24th July, will see the ground hosting the Huntington's Charity Day once again. This is the third occasion that we have hosted this fantastic day. This year promises to be bigger & better than before with loads of stalls and activities planned. Licensed bar will be open all day from Noon. So please support this function from 11am at the ground and lets raise 'loadsa money' for the Huntington's Charity. For more information about events planned for the day visit here: https://www.facebook.com/HDFunDay Can you spot yourself?
Click on 'More' then 'Photos' and have a look if you can spot yourself. Pictures were taken at last Friday's bumper attended Friday Club Night. Over 70 children were present at last Friday's Club Night and they were all delighted with the new supply of kwik cricket and bowling machine balls. The purchase of these items were made possible by a grant from Calverton Parish Council, and Chairman, John Bailey, was our guest for the evening. The Cricket Club would like to place on record there thanks to John & the Parish Council for the grant. Club Chairman Derek Pickering added, "These balls are specialist and necessary pieces of equipment which helps the kids from as young as 5 all the way up to the mid teens. Without the grant from the Parish Council, purchasing these items would have been a struggle" Pictured above are some of the children who are benefiting from the purchase along with Derek Pickering (left) and Councillor John Bailey (right).
Lowdham's ground is described as 'boggy' and this afternoons game has been cancelled.
No such problems though at GLA due yesterdays herculean efforts by the groundstaff the game against Plumtree is definitely on! |
