The Seconds had a day to remember picking up all 20 points on the road at Whatton & Aslockton.
Skipper Matt Lowe won the toss and elected to bat first (a wise choice)! Andy Hubbard on his return to cricket was asked to open up with The Chair but was soon back in the Pav. Matt Dean joined Picko and 40 runs were added in good time until Picko gave mid on a handful off a full toss! Jake joined Deano and another good partnership yielded a further 60 for the third wicket. Jake also perished in the 20's chipping one up in the air, which brought Cairney to the crease. Three balls later he was back in the changing rooms. 100-4 off just 20 overs and the game was in the balance. Enter John Nester, who together with Deano put on a magnificent 121 for the fifth wicket. When Johnny was eventually bowled for 51, Deano had passed 100 for a well constructed century on a tricky wicket. Although Deano fell towards the end of the innings, JJ and Cal Williamson put on further useful runs as the total climbed passed the 250 mark. At tea Calvo had reached the dizzy heights of 252-6 from 40 overs - heady days!!
After a super tea it was over to the bowlers to do the business and what a fine job they did. Jake Lowe opened up & in the blink of an eye the top 3 were back in the hutch, 2 clean bowled and a good low catch at slip by Andy Hubbard all off Jake.

With Deano 'twirling' away at the other end and also picking up the fourth wicket, the total had stuttered along to 46-4.
When Jake 'had' to be taken off (cos he's not old enough to bowl more than 7 overs) his figures were 3-26 - a fine effort. Now strength in depth on the bowling front has been a tad problematic this season, but James Cairney found a great rhythm and polished off the rest of Whatton almost on his own!

By the time Cairney had completed his seventh over, the game was done & dusted! 5-22 off 7 and with Willo picking up a wicket on his return Whatton were skittled for just 99.
So 20 points and hope!
We believe!
MOM Tough call- Deano & Cairney, great effort boys.
