The 1st's entertained Balderton in a vital clash where a positive result was a must.
Having first use of another terrific wicket at GLA, the batting effort was an improvement on recent games with a number of batsman making contributions; Darren Wright 58, Billy Armstrong 23, James Toogood 31 and Scott Andrew 41*. However, nobody went on to make a big score and when the innings closed on 202-9 it was felt that maybe we were 30-40 runs light. Still runs on the board, they've got to get them.
A fantastic collective effort by all the bowlers and Baldo were never really in the hunt, only Chris Dobbie with 48* threatened to make a game of it and with Kyle Welch on fine form (3-36) and Billy Armstrong (2-36), the only question was would we be able to bowl them out? Nathan, Brins & Daz were also amongst the wickets, but the final 2 wickets remained elusive and after 50 overs the total stood at 160-8.
17 valuable points and a good collective effort by those involved.
'New lad' Nathan Johnston was elated with the result and a 'sneak peak' of how a 'Manc' celebrates can be seen here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62Q4C4WTmH8
MOM Scott Andrew; Vital runs which held the innings together at the death & marshalled the troops excellently.
