The 1st XI made the short trip to Mapperley Plains a fruitful one by claiming all 20 points against Gedling Colliery.
Gedling had first use of the pitch but found the Calvo attack in inspired form. From the outset, openers Billy Armstrong & Ryan Evans had the hosts on the back foot with some accurate bowling. The breakthrough didn't take long as one of the opening bats nicked off to Flea off Billy which set the ball rolling. Skipper Scott Andrew then played a master stroke introducing Darren Wright into the attack which saw Daz rip the heart out of the upper order taking 3 quick wickets. With support forthcoming from Billy Bennett and Jake Lowe on his first team debut, Gedling never recovered. With Daz adding a further scalp and Billy Armstrong mopping up the tail, Gedling were bowled out for 149.
Calvo's reply got off to a dodgy start with the top three back in the hutch with just 25 on the board. When recent 'run machine' Ryan Evans fell for 14 the total stood at 46-4. A fifty partnership then followed between Will Peat (27) and Calum Jayes (26). When both fell in pretty close succession the score had progressed to 116-6. Fear not. Scott's continued his fine work as 'The Finisher' with 29 not out, receiving great support from Jake (15 not out) as the points were bagged without further alarm with 4 overs in the bank.
